Today, we’re going to talk about oxidation.
What is oxidation?
Originally oxidation meant adding oxygen to a compound and losing an electron. When you lose an electron from an atom, you create a free radical. A free radical can cause damage to tissue, DNA, etc. Now the oxidation definition has expanded to the creation of free radicals without oxygen.
An antioxidant donates an electron to make things more symmetrical and stabilizes the atom.
When you have too much oxidation versus antioxidants, that’s called oxidative stress.
Vegetable oil is more like seed oil. It’s mostly GMO, highly processed, and has trace amounts of herbicide. It creates more free radicals, inflammation, and depletes antioxidants.
In restaurants, these oils are sometimes used over and over. This highly processed and oxidized grease is then recycled and used in animal feed.

Olive oil is a natural treasure that offers numerous health and beauty benefits. Here are some of its key advantages:
1. Health Benefits
Heart Health:
Olive oil helps reduce levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) while increasing HDL (good cholesterol), thereby lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Anti-inflammatory Properties:
It contains compounds like oleocanthal that act as natural anti-inflammatory agents, helping to reduce chronic inflammation in the body.
Antioxidants:
Rich in antioxidants, olive oil fights free radicals and protects cells from damage, which in turn reduces the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer.
Digestive Support:
Its soothing properties aid in improving digestion and preventing issues like constipation.
2. Beauty Benefits
Skin Care:
Serving as a natural moisturizer, olive oil keeps the skin soft and deeply hydrated while helping to reduce signs of aging due to its antioxidant content.
Hair Care:
When used as a nourishing hair mask, it strengthens hair, prevents breakage, and adds a healthy shine.
3. Nutritional Benefits
Enhanced Nutrient Absorption:
Olive oil promotes the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (such as vitamins A, D, E, and K), ensuring that your body benefits fully from the nutrients in your diet.
Distinctive Flavor:
It adds a rich and unique flavor to dishes, making it a staple ingredient in many healthy recipes.
4. Tips for Optimal Use
Choosing the Right Type:
Opt for extra virgin olive oil to enjoy the highest quality and maximum benefits.
Culinary Use:
It is best used in the final stages of cooking or in cold dishes to preserve its beneficial compounds.
Topical Use:
Use olive oil as a skin moisturizer or hair mask to achieve natural beauty results.
Incorporating olive oil into your daily routine in moderation as part of a balanced diet can help you reap its extensive health and beauty benefits, promoting a natural and healthy lifestyle.
Proper Use of Olive Oil: A Comprehensive Guide
Using olive oil correctly can help you maximize its health and beauty benefits. Here are some key guidelines:
1. Choosing the Right Olive Oil
Opt for Extra Virgin Olive Oil:
This type is minimally processed and retains the highest levels of antioxidants and healthy fats.
2. Culinary Applications
Cold Dishes:
Drizzle olive oil over salads, vegetables, or dips to preserve its nutritional value and enhance flavor.
Low-Heat Cooking:
Use olive oil for sautéing or as a finishing oil rather than for high-heat frying. High temperatures can degrade some beneficial compounds.
Enhance Nutrient Absorption:
Adding olive oil to meals helps improve the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) present in your food.
3. Topical and Beauty Applications
Skin Care:
Apply a small amount to the face or body as a natural moisturizer. It can help hydrate and soften the skin. For those with sensitive skin, perform a patch test first.
Hair Care:
Use olive oil as a hair mask to nourish and strengthen hair. Massage it into your scalp and strands, leave it on for about 30 minutes, then wash it out with a gentle shampoo.
4. Storage and Handling
Store Properly:
Keep olive oil in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat to maintain its quality.
Seal Tightly:
Always ensure the container is tightly closed to minimize exposure to air, which can lead to oxidation.
5. Moderation
Balanced Consumption:
Although olive oil is a healthy fat, it is calorie-dense. Use it in moderation as part of a balanced diet to enjoy its benefits without overconsumption.
By following these guidelines, you can make the most of olive oil’s versatility and incorporate it effectively into both your culinary and beauty routines.

Taste testing the BAI Antioxidant Infusion Kula Watermelon flavored beverage and giving it a review out of 10! This is pretty much just a hydration drink. There is not too much going on with it, but it does have a really nice flavor and if you’re someone that likes watermelon flavors, then this is the drink that you would likely enjoy. The watermelon flavor is a bit different than others that I’ve tried in the past, but I think that they do a good job with making the flavor taste good. Kula watermelon from Bai is solid
